I can't understand why anyone would support gun ownership with no basic gun safety class requirement. People are stupid, at best, complete bugger eating morons at worst. The latter seem to own a lot of guns.

It’s waived with a DD214, but I think a class is still needed…I served with some folks I wouldn’t trust with a cap gun

Yeah there's a decent amount of fasteners that use soft low carbon steel, especially when they're recessed-headed like this one is.

Still not sure why you can't try an external extractor like Mud suggested. Space is that limited? I do like the "square it off" idea.

Not that I can't try, but these kinds of extractors usually work best when you hammer tap them in no?
I have no room for a hammer.
I can try them, I'm just not as familiar as I am with the other methods (vice grips, drill, heat a f)

I fully agree. Don't want to go too deep down this conversational rabbit hole, but it's easy to see there's some correlation between RI's stricter gun laws\requirements, some of the lowest amounts of firearms per person, and some of the lowest numbers of gun violence in the country.

It should seat by itself, it's left hand threaded so as you loosen the bolt, it digs into the bolt.

Back in the day (mid 90's), I got my MA concealed permit by showing my "pistol proficiency" certificate and getting fingerprinted by the local cops - a couple of weeks later I had my card.

you don't necessarily have to hammer the extractors on, they are designed to drive themselves on.

I see the problem being the bolt head height looks to be 3/16"? that doesn't give you much gripping befor the leading edge of the extractor will hit the cover. You may need to try various sizes/grind the face down a bit
