Car talk - i still look at tacos and v8 4runners and other dailies as I kick around the idea of selling my expensive truck for a cheaper truck. Except its not really that much cheaper.

I want a ranger-sized small pick up that i can put a supercharger on. maybe i should find another vr6 to supercharge as a daily and just call it a day.

Colonial VW in Westboro was mid - went to their parts department for some hardware and they couldn't help me.

We bought my wife's Tiguan from Colonial Honda. The salesman was nice, but dear lord was it a struggle to get them to the price I was willing to pay. I finally did, but it was a waste of two hours. I don't think I'll be going back to a Colonial dealer.

reminds me of a time i took my MK6 to a midas to have a tire replaced (or something that definitely didn't warrant a test drive for any reason).

a tech just pulls my car out right in front of me while i'm waiting outside, and guns it down the road flat out, probably up to 80 or so MPH.

I don't let the tire shops touch my car and I always make sure the car is good and warm for alignments 'cause I know they're pushing boost as soon as they're out of sight, regardless of whether it's up to temp.

Its truly crazy. I got my 2016 Performance Pack SE in 2019 for 16k. Sold it a year or two later for 17. Bet if i could find the same one for sale now it would be 20.

Dude same. I paid $18k for my 2016 SE with 32k miles. A 2016 SE with double the amount of miles now would be $20k+ ez pz.

I'm reading ranger-sized as in like 90's-00's ranger, not the new abomination, and wholeheartedly agree. If the Maverick wasn't FWD I'd be in, and with the hybrid it's also tempting.
I can't say I haven't considered rotrex supercharger for the 2.5 duratec on a CX-5...

I don't know, feels like it's the battery not having enough power but it's reading 13.5v. I haven't had time to swap the battery from the wife's car to verify. Can't complain much, got 7ish years out of the Braille 11 pounder. Time to get a 4 pounder

I just went through this. First it was the five year old battery then it was the alternator. In hindsight the battery might have been fine but I can’t imagine it would have gone much longer anyway.

Fun fact: when your alternator is getting weak and isn’t putting out enough the air conditioner stops working at random. I’ve never had an alternator fail on any other car I’ve owned so I’ve only experienced the car shutting down systems on me when the battery starts to fail.

It took a while to figure out it was the alternator and when you turned on the headlights the extra load would make the bearings squeal.
