We have a '17 4mo.

Except he also has a couple MK4 R32s, a MK7.5 Spektrum R (but in the shop), and a MK8 R.

my friends wife has a ~2010ish one with the tsi. hasn't exactly been taken care of that well but everything that could have broken on it has, like water pump, intake manifold, timing chain, turbo, etc. exhaust leaks from downpipe. they aren't fans.

i find the 4mo tiguan rline form that era quite lovely though.

what is your personal experience with the cross brace? which one is that? did it help with ride quality at all?

I have the ECS brace which is similar. I got just the cross bar, not the triangulating bars. Helping with ride quality, I'd say kinda sorta... it's subtle, gives a tighter feeling through the seat. I think @MrFancypants has said the same.

I made it… It definitely adds some reinforcement to the back since the 70 lb seat is gone/not latched in place.

Hatch braces are great. Definitely go with one that has 4 mounting points vs 2

I want one that is easily removable for wagoning when needed. But dont wanna shell out the 500 bucks for the vwr one which i think is the only easy removal option. 1st world problems.

My rear seats squeak over bumps all the time which tells me there is hella flex to be fought against
