All just personal opinion though, so both are valid thoughts!
We all disagree on so much and that's why you guys are the best

tbh I don't even dislike the 7.5R front end, I just like the 7.5 GTI front end more, and I totally recognize that I'm biased. Though I do think the 7.5R headlights > 7.5 GTI headlights

I'd love to piece together a perfect 2015-2021 VW with parts bin goodies

almost, I'd build one harlequin style though

Anyone remember Eurotuner magazine? I'll never forget the mid-engined, RWD mk4 GTI somebody built in a similar fashion, using Audi and Porsche bits shoehorned into the back of a reflex silver GTI. I miss that mag, so many cool features. Performance VW also has a lot of neat stuff, but it's hard to find around my area.

mk7.5 GTI vs R disagrees, the R bumper isn't as cool

mk7 R definitely though
Mk7 R >>>>> Mk7.5 R.
Mk7.5 GTI > Mk7 GTI.

This is the way.

Elimination of R specific side skirts and rear bumper covers vs a base on the Mk7.5 R is tragic. Front end is too basic as well.

One of my skirts on my R was peeling when I bought it and I didn't realize it until I got home. It was always one of those things that bugged the hell out of me and I wish I had seen it before I signed for anything. I would have tried my hardest to get them to replace it. It was a little over $300 to replace just 1 side, so I never did anything about it. It was on the drivers side at the front too, so I was constantly seeing it. I don't think CarMax saw it though.

That car's on at least it's 3rd reservation at a carmax in NC right now. People seem to keep backing away from it. People put it on reserve and then a week later it's available again.

Mine was dropped another $600, and has been purchase pending for a bit over a week now.

lol, 6 months after a major hurricane it ends up for sale in NC...nothing fishy!

Could be nothing, could be something. The only real bad thing about it was the catastrophic clutch failure I had, I think around 12k miles. The pressure plate had bent teeth, the flywheel was busted, and the bellhousing still has some pretty good marks inside of it from the flywheel slapping against it. I replaced everything with oem parts and put a RSR clutch in it. I was never happy with that cars transmission. The clutch was way too soft when I bought it and the RSR had a better feel, but it didn't really make the car more enjoyable to drive/shift. I kinda didn't really trust it to be a good long term car.

It was in the garage during the hurricane and the water went above the side skirt, but didn't go high enough to get inside the car.

It never got TD1 flagged, but it did have a eqt stage 1 tune on it for a few years.

Once I totaled that clutch I just kinda always had trust problems with that car. I don't know if it was something that I did that caused it, or if it was the previous owner who only drove it for 6.6k miles, or if it was just going to happen anyway. Learning about crank walk at the same time my clutch was destroyed didn't really help either.
