Would guess that wiring was probably re-done in maaaybe the 80's but probably earlier? It's all in flexible conduit run to a relatively tiny breaker board. There are still remnants of post-and-tube wiring in the basement rafters. CSB: One time I gave myself a tiny little electrocution trying to change the lightbulb in one of those nipple-style light fixtures. Switch was off but apparently the nipple was hot

We love the old wood trim and hardwood floors... but if I won the lottery I'd strip it to the studs and update it. Everything is still lath-and-plaster and the house needs rewiring, needs better insulation, probably could route the central air better, no exhaust in kitchen or bathroom, etc etc.

The Landlord Special is a shame to begin with but I think it's an even bigger shame with some of these oooooold houses here in the NE.

Nipples are often hot

like just watch two minutes of this cursed shit

I went into that video with a devil's advocate view and nope not even the awful intro shit but the driving itself is triggerific

I like NFS and Forza Horizon and dumb shit like that but like in AC that just feels too real, and it's making me think of all the times I've been cut off in traffic and how irritating it is when people drive like shits

I have a reused, reissued govt laptop that I swear has the speed of a commodore 64.
But does it have a tape drive & a 6 disc D&D Pools of Radiance set

this is why I bought a dashcam for the GTI and will probably get one for each of the other cars

that said ~$90 in parts was the only thing that kept the black car from being used as a means of justice a while back. Someone being a turd and my options were either make space/change lanes or get plowed into, and that car isn't worth a whole lot so I almost let it happen

but I had some new suspension bits to prep for AX the next season sitting on the workbench that I didn't really want to go to waste, so I moved

Our house is a 1910 redfin flip, lots of corners cut and trim painted by redfin but still tons of character. We upgraded our electric panel to 220 which made a huge difference but the wires in the walls are super old still. Just nice that a hair dryer doesn't flip the circuit anymore.

House projects are always interesting cause nothing is square - my father in law knows his shit and it always takes him a minute to figure stuff out before we start

120+ yo NE house here. We gutted 80% of it and redid all the electric a couple years back. We had every generation of wiring possible in the house. We even still had/have the old oil lines for the oil lamps from before electricity.

yeah house projects make me so angry because I like things to be square and exact, and of course houses are NOT that

My house started out as a one room fieldstone hunting lodge circa 1933. I'm not sure but my guess is 6-8 additions on it. it's around 2500 sq on one level. It's cool but there are drawbacks esp when trying to run any type of utilities. Crawl space and even more limited attic access can make work challenging.
We are very fortunate with location as for Southern CT we have a good bit of privacy

Not a single one of my windows or doors are the same size. Everything we replace had to be custom made.
ugh yeah fuck windows in old houses in particular, where it's all single pane bullshit that has more drafts than a highschool CAD class.

though also fuck those cold sales people who walk up to you in the hardware store and waste your time trying to sell you bullshit. I've started telling them I'm homeless

This is the way, they know immediately an efforts won't succeed and just stop talking. My neighborhood has door to door salesmen all the time trying to sell me crap, they just stop in their tracks when you tell me it's a rental.
