Grattan is in Belding MI.I'm a n00b and unfamiliar, where is Grattan located? In general, any advice for someone who wants to get on track, as far as orgs which will rent you an appropriate car? Doesn't need to be full-on racecar, just something with decent tire and brake/fluids that can be done arrive & drive style. I looked a little at Skip Barber just because they do Laguna Seca, but I'd love to know any/all options out there.
Being in the northeast we have some options we could drive to, but I don't know that without a trailer I want to risk it, just in case. We've driven at Pocono when they do autocrosses on the infield there and it's super fun and we just drove the cars there and back, but my understanding is that track sessions will be much tougher on cars. Personally my goal is just to have some fun, not really looking to be competitive. I think we'd wind up in the beginner/novice group anyway, with point to pass only and instructors and whatnot, which I'm fine with.
I don't know any clubs that let you rent a track car unfortunately. You're better off taking your own car since you know it and just drive at your comfort level. Beginners can have plenty of fun without pushing it to levels where you get in trouble. Most beginners make the mistake of trying to go fast instead of just have fun. Shouldn't worry about trying to go fast until you have 10-15 track days under your belt
