He's talking about the piston retraction tool. I just use Acadia's when I need one.

As far as I remember you only need that special tool for the rears, the front don't need compression + twist so your old pad in a c clamp should do

....someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Good luck using a c clamp on your front calipers. If you can get it to fit, push one in and the others come out.

Unless he hasn't installed them yet, he has a 6 piston bbk and would fight with a c clamp as well.

The pistons on the front are retracted... I do have to fit the rear single piston (which will be my parking brake), and might need that push and twist tool... if it's just push, then I should be alright with a C clamp and a block of wood.

I ended up having to take out my rear shock and spring bolts so that I can move them out the way to get more access so I can use a big breaker bar and beat the shit out of the pad carrier bolts... which still aren't out... gonna have to tackle them more tomorrow.

the two of you need to get a room.

These motherfucker pad carrier bolts on the rear are such a bitch to get to. They're rusted out too.
If I had the car up in the air on a lift, it'd be easier to slide in my breaker bar... but I'm working with stands. If only I were richer 🤣
Fuck me this brake install is going to take forever.
My guy no. Get a long handle flex head ratchet. Tekton has them cheap. Having the right tool makes the world of difference
Fuck rear carrier bolts

It makes me giggle listening to you guys struggle with basic things like this. This is one time using a small block of wood is appropriate, amazing you don't think of these things but use a 2x4 for suspension 😂😂😂😂

Here comes Jay everybody... high and mighty with his advice...
Yes Jay, I wish I had the ball twister 3000 so I can save myself in this one situation I'll ever experience... tools matter... right...
While I'm buying tools... should I buy a vibrating dildo for my girl? I bet it'll work better than what I've got... so much for my dignity anyway...

In all seriousness though, I make do just fine with all my tools. It's only a few scenarios that I have to jump a hoop or two to get something off.

oh #1 then yes the rear tend to be twist & push, I've seen a buddy do it with a pair of needle nose pliers but he also has herculean hands so ymmv. I would advise against just compressing the rears, since it's like 94% a screw in type. Can you rent a set of caliper tools from the auto part store? I have a HF set but I'm not sure if it includes one that fits VWs, last time I did them I just used the Metalnerd tool. Oh and HF sells a ratcheting 3/8" breaker bar that comes in clutch sometimes, just sayin'

PBblaster?
