Yeah, it's certainly not perfect......but it usually gives me a decent list to start from. I was just hoping someone else had a suggestion for that "secret handshake" search engine that pulls everything from CPO's all the way down to shady facebook listings.
I have three dealers working on numbers for me so far......but I cast a wide net while car searching. I don't usually have such a short timeline like my daughter does right now though. She needs a replacement car by this weekend, so I'll probably be sending a deposit today or tmrw for a weekend pickup.
Yeah.....I've heard of that AI powered gee pee tee stuff......but I'm also scared of skynet taking over. That is a good idea for someone who wants to try an AI powered experience though!I actually wonder if something like Chat Gee Pee Tee could do the aggregation and optimization for you. "please search sites 1 2 and 3 for [model] [years] [options] and present the results as a list of URLs organized first by price and then by mileage"
I'm not at all an AI techbro truther but that seems like the sort of thing LLMs might be good for.
See bolded comments above.Civic and Accords are great. +1
I'd use FB marketplace. Only if you want a clapped out piece of crap that is either wrecked or stolen
I'd even browse CPO inventory at my local dealers. That works - more money but a better chance of getting a decent car
Nah...., in this case it is just Google search on steroids. You don't need the Pee thing - it just speeds it up for you.Yeah.....I've heard of that AI powered gee pee tee stuff......but I'm also scared of skynet taking over. If you have a good eye for what's a shitbox and what might be decent... it's worth checking facebook. It just takes more time to message people, ask them questions, and be thorough with when you're inspecting the car... but that's where you'll find your bargains... especially if you negotiate down based on things you find wrong with it.
You'd be surprised how much of a moron CGPT is... you ask it to calculate your top speed based on numbers you give it (drag coefficient, frontal area, hp, weight) and it gives you a different answer each and every time... no kizzy.
Yep, I asked for competitors for a particular company (not even remotely car related) and Gee Pee came back with Ford, Chevy, VW, Mercedes, BMW.You'd be surprised how much of a moron CGPT is... you ask it to calculate your top speed based on numbers you give it (drag coefficient, frontal area, hp, weight) and it gives you a different answer each and every time... no kizzy.

I've called several of the lease return places before. Some of them seem cool......... but more than a couple seemed slimier than the "buy here pay here" lots.See bolded comments above.
I also had a friend who bought a couple of cars from those lease turn in sites - usually decent cars that someone wants to sell as the value is higher than the residual.
CGPT does know how to plug shit into an equation, given that it gave me the equation... and even still it knows better than to change its answer every damn time I ask it to do the same exact thing (same input... different output every time).TBF, I don't think CGPT was necessarily trained on aerospace engineering PhD courses and CFD.
Many on FB are curbstoners that put lipstick on a pig and sell it as a racehorse. There are so many things that can go wrong and nobody on this board can look at a car that is "fixed" by a curbstoner at their place of business and find the problems. If you have a good eye for what's a shitbox and what might be decent... it's worth checking facebook. One problem is that the data it uses is oldTBF, I don't think CGPT was necessarily trained on aerospace engineering PhD courses and CFD.
