Ngl it's kinda nice... honestly a 4/5k car IMO... if not less.
Do any of you know of solid daily driver cars for a banger deal near you? It'll be some time before I get my car back on the road (hopefully before 2025), and so I'm open to the idea of finding a DD to get to work in the meantime and have something to beat up if the GTI goes down in the future (knock on wood).

TX has an awful car market unless you drive out to the sticks. It's a genuinely awful car market.

If you were closer to PA I'd say buy my old Jetta (pictured), all the hard work was done on it and it was a fun (albeit slow) car. I loved the shit out of that thing though, it was in excellent shape when it was sold.

yeah i have tied for 10 years to talk her into learning. got her in the drivers seat like 5 times. 4 of the 5 she was too scared to even lift the clutch pedal to move the car. the 5th time i got her idling around a parking lot in 1st gear and could NOT get her to do anything more. no idea what the deal is lmao. it was on the mk5 jetta too, which i assured her, i was NOT too attached to and not to worry about frying the clutch.
