Coolant completely gone after long drives

Hi all wondered if any of you can help? Drove about 240 miles on holiday and coolant light came on after we got back into the car. Coolant was completely gone. Topped it up and was fine next few days as short journeys. Drove back home and same thing again - completely empty when home. Local Garage has looked at it and no visible signs of a leak. Any ideas?

Usually dries white. I would assume the way you have described it's leaking from the pump underneath the intake manifold. How long/hard did the local garage look?

Ahha cheers for that info, they had a pretty good look up on the ramp and all. Ill mention that to them when I take it back there

If they have an endoscope, tell them to check the internals of the intercooler in the front of the engine. It may be cracked inside where the coolant leaks then. It's quite common issue with TDI engines of this generation. Or just tell them to make a pressure test of the intercooler.

would assume language barrier, assuming you mean radiator?

Unless you see coolant dripping, it's either the head gasket or the turbo seals leaking.
