Convincing My mother to get a passat

In the large family sedan realm, I'd just choose between the Honda Accord and new Mazda 6.

The Passat was one of the most boring cars I've ever driven. And surprisingly boaty too. Add a heavy dose of german unreliability and there's no way I'd ever recommend one.

Toyotas generally don't do much for me.

While reliability is part of it, the Passat is just such a boring car in almost every aspect :( If it were more exciting of a ride we could look past some reliability issues (just like many do with the GTI).

It's really a shame that VW thrust it upon is. And it's too bad we don't get the Euro version which is much more elegant.

while I agree that compared to the GTI it is a boring car my mother is in her mid 60's so a fast car that drives well is not playing a big role were looking more for comfort and getting from A to B,

Update- Drove the Camrey again we both agree that it felt rather sluggish and really seemed to struggle past 65, while we are not going to cross this off the list it just didn't wow my mom- we did not drive the passat on the highway so right now we are going to do another test drive of the passat on the highway

CLA 250- will drive friday
BMW X1- will drive friday

you would be correct also the reason why the accord is a pretty much guaranteed no.

i got into both cars, if your mother cares about passenger space then those cars are not ideal. i got into x1 in bmw showroom, i set the driver seat to my position then sat behind it, technically I'm pushing the front seat and I'm 6'2. the cla while looks cool, its also claustofouric to be in backseat wise due to lower roofline and those huge seats

Alright thanks for letting me know the x1 probably not even in the running but as I said earlier its to humor my father. The CLA may be a little tight but both my sister and I are in college so the rear seats are not that important. I am curious to see the CLA and try it out.

Not sure if the Nissan Altima was mentioned? My mom got one after I recommended it to her. And with the CVT and the 4 cylinder, it is a very peppy motor. Very quick and I was very surprised. Might be worth a look! It's a quiet, comfortable car too.

^ I didn't much care for the CVT or the horrible engine racket in the Altima 2.5 I rented. Seats were terrible for long distance too.

Fuckin car got 39 MPG, doe. Pretty damn peppy for such a barge of a sedan too. At least the CVT made the car more interesting than the Passat.
