Only the Germans would make a brake dust shield that can't be removed without also removing the hub/bearing. Going to cut the narrow section with tin snips or a dremel.

Planted some new flowers. They bloomed real fast. Far from perfect, but for a daily they will be fine! I used VHT SP731 Real Red Caliper Paint which is a little brighter than the Mk7PP red, but close enough!

Correct, this is the rear dust shield on a Mk5. However Mk7R rear dust shields are designed the same way. Your choices are to remove the hub or cut the shield. I cut the shields on my GSW4Mo. You may be able to flex a Mk7R rear dust shield over an hub for install, but there's a high probability you will bend it.

The rear dust shields for FWD manual handbrake Mk7s are even worse. You have to unbolt the hub to remove or install them as they are sandwiched between the hub and knuckle.

Finally got all the parts! The front lines appear to be slightly longer than my last set. Stock Mk5/6 312x25 setup weighed 33lbs per side. Macan 345x30 setup weighed 38lbs per side. Overall gain of 10lbs on the front axle. Most of the new weight is the rotor, so a two piece rotor could easily make the Macan setup lighter! Ran into rear dust shield fitment issues so no test drive yet, but can't wait!

Sadly none of the holes lined up on the VR6 Eos rear dust shields, so the only proper way to complete the swap with OEM parts on a FWD PQ35 car is to track down FWD Passat/CC/Eos aluminum rear knuckles. (Possibly 2010+ Beetles, but they share parts with TTs and that's an entire other wormhole.) I have a much greater respect for the simplicity of the MQB platform after playing the parts lottery with PQ35 chassis for the 310x22 swap!

My Mk5 Macan 345 and PP GTI 310 install is finally finished! I went a little overboard with this swap, but in the end it was worth it! Since R32 rear dust shields are NLA and not reproduced I ended up tracking down B6/CC/Eos aluminum rear knuckles. These knuckles added some extra track width, which in turn severely limited my wheel options, but otherwise had no ill effects. I also purchased B6/CC aluminum front knuckles, B6/CC aluminum front control arms and S3 front control arm bushings. I have not installed the front knuckles yet, but the lighter aluminum rear knuckles and front control arms offset the weight gained by the larger brakes almost perfectly!

Sadly when I went to bleed my brakes I discovered my junkyard 2022 GTI PP rear calipers had stripped bleeders. Fortunately I found another even lower mileage set from a 2019 GTI. Last night I finally got to take the car for a quick shakedown ride. After some ABS stops I rebled the brakes. Even with the Centric ceramic pads the increased bite and stopping power over the 312/286 setup is amazing! Unfortunately these Q5 calipers have the same extra travel on initial application as the Macans on my GSW4Mo. This is a minor, albeit livable, symptom of a "low drag" caliper with a standard master cylinder. Should have some before/after 0-60-0 and brake temp comparisons soon! Also have Centric semi-metallics, EBC YellowStuff and EBC BlueStuff for pad comparisons.
