What’s up guys. Picked this car up about a year ago and wanted to document the build as it gets a little more serious.
Build List as of 11/24/24
I currently daily drive the car and even when I purchase a truck/trailer it will still probably spend quite a bit of time on the street.
The day I picked it up. 2 owners, 72k miles and clean as a whistle. November 2023
Didn’t take long and I ordered a few mods. VWR springs, Aerofabb front splitter and rear spoiler extension, and some maintenance items.
Spent a bunch of time trying my hand at polishing and waxing the car one weekend
One fateful night on my way home from work I hit a chicken mid flight. The joys of living in Arkansas I suppose. New OEM headlight assembly ordered and installed.
Got some NASTY weather for Arkansas and this thing dominated the ice and snow. Even on some Michelin PS4S tires.
Shortly after that in March I attended my very first Autocross event and was HOOKED.
Attended two more events after that on my PS4S tires and ended up chunking them half way through the day before my 3.5 hour drive home Ordered a dedicated set of wheels and tires for Autocross and some 034 Camster plates. 255/35 Kumho v730s and Motegi MR140 wheels (just a hair over 18 pounds a piece and pretty cheap)
Finished out the rest of the season and ended up winning the overall Novice class for the year! I’ve been tempted to return the car to stock and buy a Miata but everytime I drive the car hard I just want to keep it. I know it’ll never be a nationally competitive rig but I want to make it the best I can for local and maybe some smaller national events.
Current plans are a new suspension setup that’s “livable” on the street but can do a bit better on track. I’m so tired of the “crashy” feeling I get with the VWR springs on big dips. Currently looking at the EQT coilovers, Fortune Autos, or the Ground Control coilover conversion and keeping DCC. (Any input here?)
Would like to eventually do a haldex tune and limited slip in the front. Maybe Macan brembos? Also hate the MIB1 radio in the car and REALLY want to do the MIB2.5 retrofit but you know, priorities.
Thanks!
