Cobb Accessport Stage 3 question

So I just purchased the Cobb Accessport tuner yesterday. That being said I currently have an aftermarket intake and an APR downpipe with AWE catback so I was excited to go stage 2 preorder. After ordering and today I noticed that in order to go Stage 2 with the Cobb software it needs an aftermarket intake and a FMIC as well where as the stage 3 tune needs intake, downpipe and FMIC. Which tune is safe for me to use? I assume the stage 1 is fine obviously but would I be able to get use out of the stage 3 map without the FMIC? Let me know thanks.

You can always get a custom tune from one of the companies (like 5150 or MAP,freaktune etc) to get a stage that fits your mods. Stage 1+ basically fits your mod list if you stick to stock cobb. Prepare for heatsoak until you get your intercooler (Though its gotten much cooler of late).

Even if you go custom tune, you'll need an intercooler eventually, unless you are basically a DD and never get to press the go pedal. Even then, the car heatsoaks rapidly even at stage 1.

Ok great so I should do the stage 3 tune because it's made for an intake, downpipe and intercooler but just expect heat soak? I may look into one of the other companies tunes too.

youll get heat soak with any tune...most tunes dont require intercooler but youll notice the heatsoak quickly

That's what I figured because with most tunes you can get Stage 2 with a downpipe, Cobb requires an intake and a FMIC. Stage 3 is Intake, FMIC and downpipe. Seemed odd to me.

probably bc they took heatsoak into consideration more than most

My understanding on these cars is stage 1 is just tune, stage 2 is DP/tune (IC recommended), stage 2+ is IS38 turbo/DP/IC/tune, and stage 3 is proper big turbo with all necessary mods/tune.

Until stage 3+ levels, I'm pretty sure intake can be taken care of with simple drop in high flow filter/snow guard removal, unless you really need the noise/fancy look of an aftermarket intake.

It's different the way Cobb does their tuning. I'm not a noob to this stuff but only to Cobb.

Don't run the stock cobb stuff. Get a hold of Jon @ 5150 and get'r done. Honestly, the OTS Cobb maps are very poor. I mean I was running 0 positive timing on their IS38 one.

Sounds good man I was considering 5150 or MAP.

Nothing against MAP but if you want to go fast, go with Jon. The times we have put down speak for themselves.
I have no skin in the game btw as I switched to ED.

So I sent 5150 a message on facebook because they don't have a website and he told me to email him. I emailed him telling him I was curious about their tune and he took two days to respond and asked me my performance parts. I told him IE Intake, IE TMD and APR downpipe and he sends,

"Easy, paypal is #%#%*#*@gmail.com $200"

Didn't even go into explanation about the tune he was offering just expected me to send him $200. I told him his sales pitch is wrong if he intends on me sending him $200 through paypal without any info on it whatsoever. Has no website just a word of mouth recommendation.

He then says "good luck with a far slower car than any of mine"

Thanks but no thanks on 5150.

Fuckk I was just going to contact him bc I wanted a tune... that’s not the kind of customer experience or interaction I’m looking for. I usually use Jeff Evans in PA bc he takes the time to personally talk to you about your goals and explains everything to you nicely. I was going to reach out to 5150 for an etune bc Evans doesn’t do etune but I might have to just wait and do a proper dyno tune.
