Chrome bubbling

Anybody else have this problem?

Bad picture but you can see that something is happening behind the chrome.

This is the chrome strip on the front bumper.
Ill talk to VW and ask if they will take this on the warranty. No stone chips or anything in that area so this is a production fail.

My first thought was that the trim has been exposed to extreme heat. Is that possible? Any discolouration?

Nope, not to extreme temperatures here in Norway
But no heat applied from external sources either. Looks just like rust under chromed metal.

I wonder if it's actually plated plastic rather than metal. Definitely should be a warranty claim. Ditto on the colour choice!!
