Central locking issue

Hi everyone, new member here. Just bought my second Mk7 golf. Has a few issues which meant I got it for a decent price, but now trying to sort these out!

It's got an issue where the central locking only works when the steering lock has been engaged. So if you exit the car without turning the wheel and engaging the steering lock, neither key fob will lock the car, although it will lock manually with the key. When the steering lock is engaged then it locks fine with the key fobs. Any ideas on this?

I know you will likely say 'well just engage the steering lock, it's safer anyway', however you haven't met my Mrs.

Do you have VCDS? If so post and adaptation map of 09 - BCM. I won't pretend to "know" there's a solution anymore but there are lots of adaptation channels about walking behavior... mostly named ZV-something or another.

With the help of Google translate, unless you know German, you might be able to find something that explains the current behavior and might let you change it.
