Saw this today on my walk during the lunch hour and snapped two pictures. The guy inside wouldn't tell me anything, but did say he was on his way out to Mt. Evans for even higher altitude testing. I know it's not a VW but thought you guys might enjoy giving a guess.

I think it's a Nissan.

My guess is its the new BMW 1-Series hatchback. The following renderings are from Automobile Magazine. They closely resemble this test mule.

Take note:
1. Shape of headlights.
2. Shape of windows and rear quarter glass
3. Gas cap location.

The rear hatch is different but close, again, these are just rendering but they must have based it on spy photos.

Mazda 2 is already on sale and the gas cap is on the other side. Also, Mazda 2 is a 5-door hatch. The OP photos show a 2-door hatch.

I also doubt that this is a Nissan. They already have their Nissan Versa. It does not make sense for them to come up with a 3-door hatchback.

OK, I want to make one last stab at this before I get back to work (been reading Automobile Mag online while having lunch).

It might be this Opel GTC Paris Concept. It might be sold in NA under a GM brand.
