Hi all, hoping someone can offer some advice.
Had my mk7.5 stolen whilst I was on holiday. First I knew was when police had recovered it. Was told it appeared undamaged.
Upon collecting it, I've found;
a) They've ripped out the panel by the rearview mirror with the light controls and sunglasses holder. I'm getting a quote from a garage to replace/repair.
b) Nav in the discover unit says "navigation database not available". Seems to be because they've nicked the SD card with the maps on, so I've ordered a new one, hopefully that will fix it. However, i'm stumped on...
c) When I plug in my phone to use Carplay, it suddenly thinks i'm a couple of miles away. Unplug my phone and location returns to normal. Why would this be? Even more strange, it's not consistent. When I first picked the car up, it was working fine, but half way home the location jumped to somewhere else, and wouldn't reset. The next day it was the same. Visited the garage, they plugged a couple of wires back together in the hole near the mirror, and that seemed to sort things out. Then, a couple of hours later, the location jumped back to near the first false location. I understand that wired carplay uses the cars GPS for location data. The shark fin with the GPS arial looks fine.
What could be going on? I can only think of two things.
1) it's a result of either a) or b) - damaged or unplugged cable from the hole in the interior, or the missing maps database messing up the GPS. But then why is it working OK sometimes?
or 2) Could some part of the nav system/GPS have been removed and fitted in another car by the thieves? Am I somehow getting the location of a different vehicle? I don't have a clue how that could even be possible.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks in advance.
