Can License plate light brightness be adjusted?

Replaced the license plate lights with some LEDs and they are ridiculously bright. Almost obnoxiously bright. Is there any way to reduce the brightness via an OBD tool or other means?

Dang now I wish I had a VCDS. I have OBDEleven but I don't know where to find it in there or if I have enough credits.

follow the same instructions for obd11. obd11 will do adaptations without need of credits.

Woot! Thanks! Worked like a charm. Had to take it down to 40 from 127 to get the brightness I wanted.

I would want the license plate light to be as dim as possible to avoid getting picked up for no license plate light.

Some cheap brand from AliExpress. 12 bucks and came with resistors. I figured it’s cheap enough to try. Worst case I’m out 12 bucks.

Yeah I’m torn. Love the clean white light but yeah would like it to not bring too much attention to my car.

I’ve had mine since Feb 2019 and haven’t had any issues.
