Can I pass NJ Inspection?

This is actually on my sons 2009 Jetta Wolfsburg. He got a code P0491 for secondary air injection insuficiente flow. I cleared the code and drove it 10 miles and OBDeleven is showing me the attached photos on readiness. Do they all have to show completed successfully?

Looks like no. I know you can have 2 not ready and still pass, but most places will fail you regardless. I can’t recall which have to be completed no matter what.

I will drive around some more and see if they go into readiness. I just need him to pass and take care of the issue afterwards.

I know in VCDS you can force run the monitors. I don’t know if OBD11 does that.

So drove an extra 30 miles and only one more is ready. So now only those two in the photo are not ready.

AIR is tough to pass on its own. Likely when it runs it will fail again. I would check the code and see what the repair may be.

It looks like it could be the secondary air combi pump. I am taking it to Tri State Euros tomorrow.

It’s a pretty common failure. I had a V10 S8 I was working on that would pass everything but AIR test. Turns out the air was fed directly into the head and the head port was clogged. So make sure you don’t have a restriction either.

Passed inspection! The ventilation system was ready so I took it, with no CEL on and it passed. Tri State Euros will be checking regardless to make sure what’s going on.

So it appears a missing fuse was the problem. We just picked the car up used and it looks like the fuse was removed. Tri-State put in a fuse and so far so good. Go figure.

Do you happen to know which fuse? I'm trying to get rid of the light before i trade the car in. Not sure if fuse, relay, or air sensor. Hopefully not the pump or combi valve.

They did not tell me which fuse it was. I can try to find out for you though. I’ll give them a call tomorrow.
