I had a paintless dent repair a while back and noticed that after the repair my sun glass holder at the top roof console opened rather quick. Before the repair my sun glass holder would get pressed to open and then it would open slowly. A year and a half later I get around to taking the holder off and notice that the spring that helped open the holder was intact on the right side as it should be. That spring is the reason it gets flung open when I press it.
However on the left side of the sun glass older there is a hole in the plastic and I believe that a part should go in there to assist with the slow opening of the sun glass holder. I have been searching vw websites for the part and cannot find the piece that goes in there. I live in Germany now so I imagine maybe I can get it from a dealer here but they are extremely expensive. For reference a standard oil change here is around $200.
