Powerflex hybrid showed up, went to toss it in last night and made a incredibly stupid but rather large mistake. Was talking on the phone as I pulled onto the ramps and well I didn't stop
creased the driver's side rocker and nuked the passenger side....I'm not sure I have ever been so mad at myself before
Passenger side- honestly not terrible
The driver's side after applying the Clarksonian method (hammer) because it was so bad initially I had to see what I could do. No before pics unfortunately
It could have been far worse, but it also could've been avoided, nothing like being the author of your own pain haha
I think I'm just going to cover the damage up with a pair of side skirts, but the questions is which ones. Found a seller on Aliexpress offering Golf 7R reps that, based on some videos I've seen appear to fit well. Only con is I'd need to paint them, and since you can't do skirts without a splitter I'd need to get one (likely a TCR rep) and paint that too.
Other option is TCR rep skirts also from aliexpress, only con is that they are two pieces so fitment potentially questionable but they don't require paint. Paired with a TCR splitter I'd be a rear diffuser away from the whole look. Let me know what you guys think I should do on that end
Nevertheless I did get the Powerflex puck installed this afternoon. Old bushing comes out easily after some love from the sawzall to create a notch. Here it is compared to the powerflex unit
Pressed it back in using a floor jack and rubber puck
Bosh
Haven't gotten to really push the car with it yet, but initial observations from my test drive- NVH is not bad, slight vibration through pedal at idle, but not bothersome and I doubt a passenger would be aware. Shifts feel so much smoother now even driving normally. I wasn't able to do any serious gear changes but the improvement under slightly spirited acceleration indicates that I'll be quite pleased.
