Definitive solution update.
Installed the Audi strut bearings, moved the clear rubber isolator all the way up to the pigtail and made sure the spring orientation was 90° from the front outside bolt.
The noise has been completely eliminated.
If your installing B16 DCC coilovers, just go the Audi bearings, dont even bother with the VW ones.
I bought the bearings from here because the OEM Audi ones weren't available for a few weeks in Australia, these were alot cheaper than the genuine ones and seems to do the same job.
