Bilstein B16 Damptronic Creaking Noise

Does your spring have the little clear piece of rubber around it? Try shimmy-ing it up all the way so it makes a bit of contact with the mount, that fixed the creaking for me since I believe it slightly binds up at that point, having that bit of rubber cushion prevents that.
I had the workshop install it professionally.
Looking at the photos before installation appears to have the clear rubber.
Might bite the bullet and install some Audi bearings on the right side and get the rubber cover pushed all the way up.

I'm not the OP, just the unfortunate yahoo that went through 10 sets of mounts/bearings before switching to the Audi mounts, that are still silent at the 3 year mark (not that I would expect differently).

Although inconvenient if you had access to a drive on lift you could get under the car and turn while looking for something obvious. Could also put a stethoscope in a couple spots, although the location of that bearing/mount noise was obvious to me every time.

Unhelpful is that I see the Audi mounts are now $70+ each, and OEMs $55+ each 😵‍💫. When I was going through my saga Audis were under $20 each and OEMs under $15.
I might have to go down the Audi bearings route, as I had no noise prior to the coilover install.
All LCA bushes and ball joints were new before the install also.

Thanks

Decided to jack up the car and spin the spring seat, it seemed to have reduced the creaking quite significantly, there is still a tiny amount of creaking, but much better than before.
Can someone explain why that helped?

Ive marked the adjustments and will monitor it in the next few days.

Looks like the rubber piece worked it's way down or the shop moved it from where it was in your earlier pic

I thought it reduced the noise, but all it did was change when the creaking would start from the steering input.
Just a pain having to get the strut pulled apart again, and hoping the new set of bearings will fix the issue.

EDIT: Just bought a genuine Audi bearing, will wait until i arrives and I'll report back after installation.
Hopefully this is the definitive solution and can assist other members too.
(Kinda kicking myself for not just buying the Audi ones in the first place, just to save some coin)

the top of the spring pig-tail is supposed to be 90° to the front outside bolt

also where are your bump-stops I don’t see annual

Bump stops are internal on these.

Bumpstops are installed same with dust covers, first pic was an ad from the previous owner.

Thanks for the spring orientation tip, I'll make sure the workshop sets it up that way when I get the Audi bearings installed.

This I think finally fixed the issue.
I turned the spring seat about 1cm anti-clockwise and test drove the car each time, eventually I think the pig-tail lined up 90 degrees from the outside bolt.
The noise is completely gone, I'll monitor it in the next few days.

If it comes back then the upgraded Audi bearing will go in.

Thanks again for your help mate, been pulling my hair out for months on this.

Yup, that's what I have installed now. Snip from my email order below. Back then websites had them listed around $18. I paid a couple bucks more so I could pick them up from an Audi dealership that was about 5 miles from work. I was on at least the 9th drop/install of the struts and I wasn't willing to wait a week to get them, haha.

Maybe the metal backing plates are now made of high-grade stainless steel, lol!
