I agree. I'm not sure which gear he started off in. I also 100% know for a fact he would have had me in the top end with his gearing.
Not 100% sure on the SS, but my Camaro hits 60 in first gear. The right gear for highway pulls is 2nd and a shift to 3rd will put you deep into triple digits. It sounds very much like a case of being in the wrong gear. If you're not used to it, shifting to 2nd at highway speeds takes a little getting over a mental hurdle; it would be a money shift in any of the other cars I've owned.
