Audi lit up 12V cigarette lighter

So I've read that the 15 and 16 MK7s came with the lit up ring around the 12V cigarette lighters, then due to cost cutting it went away for the 17 models.

Has anyone retrofitted the Audi style lit up cigarette lighters into these newer MK7s?

I don't know that anyone has done it. But you're thinking would be the "correct" way to do it. The last poster in the other thread was considering just tying the third pin to the existing 12 volt. But that would get you a lighted ring that's full bright with no control and also assumes that lighted ring is 12 volts. It might be, but I would do it like you said and tap off the shifter lighting, then everything is uniform.
