Yup....also explains why they give you a link for the install document. I guess it makes sense from a packaging stand point. The parts are probably cheap enough that it is just easier for them to toss everything in the box with the core than make packages for each.

It was obscene. And that pair of clamp looking things. Those big heavy brackets, I've no idea wtf those were for
These?

That's terrible financial planning by that firm. Why ship so many excess parts?

Clamps, nuts and bolts, and some mounting brackets are probably pennies on the dollar when purchased in volume. I assume it doesn't compare to the additional labor cost of breaking up the kits and including what is needed only for each application.

Plus I assume it allows them more flexibility with their stock. I highly doubt they have tons of the individual pieces laying around, I would assume they are all packaged and ready to ship for the most part. This way you can count X kits rather than I have Y BMW, Z VW/Audi even though the parts are interchangeable with the exception of the mounting brackets - Which again, I have to assume are cheaper than the labor cost and potential for error in individualizing.

I think they do it because they can cuz of how crazy cheap those parts are. So it’s easier for them to just drop in the right pipes and be done with it

You'd use those to mount to the crash bar, in a manner like Baun does with the Vibrant core.
Interesting. They include two longer arms that mount to the outer T30's at the top of the cooling stack behind the upper grille rather than mount to the crash bar on the ARM kit - Or at least their instructions have you use the arms rather than those brackets. Probably as the mounting arms have the air sensor relocation on them.

Swapped out the OEM worm clamp and double checked, They did send me all 8 77/69 clamps. Gonna shoot them an email about the 2 x 71/63 clamps, but they've been great about everything so far so I doubt it'll be a problem to ship them out.

All good to know. I've been looking at the ARM fmic since I just got their catted dp. Was pretty happy with the quality of the dp so have my hopes up for the fmic.

How are you guys liking it?

So far so good for me. Haven't done any logging yet, but the car seems happy when I get on it. The only issue is that ambient air temp sensor gets moved as part of the install and that causes it to report a few degrees warmer outside than it really is. I am going to make a 3d printed mount for the sensor to get it in a better position so it reads accuratley again. I'll take the bumper off this weekend and get the measurements I need and stuff. If it turns out to be feasible, I am going to make some of the mounts out of nylon so it will hold up to normal wear and tear (not that there should be much).

no issues at all, knock on wood.

got to compare radiator temps and behavior on track vs a stage 2 gti s with upgraded stock location intercooler upgrade.

no real differences, the thing that gets repeated a lot around here is that the fmic will impede air flow to the radiator. but it doesn't. i did come up to temps faster a few times but ultimately kinda held on to the same temps. plus or minus 1-3f max temps recorded. I feel like the fmic should get in the way but thanks to the radiator fan it really isn't the case, though i believe my radiator fan definitely kicked into max speed before the other gti s who assisted me. Considering all of that, does the fmic prevent proper cooling, yeah a small bit i suppose but its so insignificant thanks to the radiator fan doing its job aka cooling efficiency isnt affected.

it isnt as bad as when you slap on a fmic to a wrx or sti. you get beyond 220f real real quick. where as in my case i got up to max temps maybe 10-15 seconds before the gti s who didnt have a fmic. with the other gti exceeding my max temps maybe due to him being stage 2 and me being stage 1
