So it's $449 on the website but I have to go to a local APR dealer to get it installed, and they charge $599. So what am I supposed to do.

Edit: called and they said for the tune they would do the $449 - 10% but it's 379 installation cost so it would still come out to the same price as a Cobb with EQT tune. I'd rather have the hardware to do it myself you guys should really make an option for that

That flashing cost is silly… see* you have any other local ARP dealers?

$379 installation cost!?! The first time I got an APR ecu and tcu tune the place I go charged me $60 (basically 30 minutes labor). I had to go back a couple times to change files, the guy didn't even charge me. APR really needs to get on with at home flashing. The APR dealer I used even agreed, it's more of an inconvenience for them take up a spot and a tech to just flash a car. Probably why some dealers charge stupid amounts to flash just to make it worth their while. It's like a contractor that quotes some ridiculous amount because they don't really want to do it when they can spend their time somewhere else on a more lucrative job. IE even has an mobile app to flash and log, really no excuse at this point.

That installation cost is nonsense. Are they including new spark plugs and other services with that? My dealer usually charges a half hour of labor to flash.

$379 is crazy... at most it should be one hour labor.

APR should also price fix these installers to the software price on their website. When I recently got my daughters car flashed, the first place I got a quote from wanted $100 more than was on the APR website, no thanks. Luckily I have more than one installer locally so went to another.

but it's 379 installation cost
Who is charging $379 for installing software? Are they involving anything else? If not, that's absolute insanity. We probably have more dealers in your area. If we don't, recommend one, and I'll set one up next door if they are charging that much.

That's not legal.
Don't see why it can't be legal as it should be in your agreement with your distributors. Thankfully it seems most dealers do honor your web pricing (plus the labor install cost). But that first one I went to was in my view just price gouging, adding a $100 markup. Supposedly a reputable German auto tuning shop - I'll never go there for any business of any sort, left a sour taste in my mouth. At least I had other options and found one that did honor your pricing, but I'd hate to be in an area where there was no other choice for miles around. It also make a mockery of your discount sales events - what's the point of you advertising things like Spring Sales if some unscrupulous dealers just charge what they want regardless? Like in post 5 above....that shithouse dealer said they wanted $600 for what should be a $450 tune (per your Spring Sale pricing)....then relents to give the $450 price, but then hides the difference in a ridiculous $379 install fee. These sort of people in your distro network can only harm your reputation.

Out of curiosity...what's involved in uploading an APR tune? Does it require special equipment from APR like how Unitronic requires you to buy a dongle to install their tune?

The Cobb AP takes about 30 mins to do a fresh install. Then the individual ECU/TCU files take about 5-10 mins to upload.
