Yes I agree with your comment on rougher surface and flow. Agree on golf ball technology also. But the APR picture looks like a heavy corrigated pipe. The peaks look like spikes. This can not be good.
Another example: The AC/heat flex pipes under my house. If corrigated, air flow is greatly restricted. That is why they use insulated flex ducts that are relatively smooth inside and kink resistant. Improved flow.
I may be wrong but my hands on experience working with blowers, the corrigated pipe was horrible to push air thru.
