You'll enjoy it a lot on the highway, I can assure you. Mk7.5 R owner here with just the DTR, a big a*s intake, and do88 intercooler. It puts me back into my seat with no regard for if I soil myself or not, whilst being on the stock downpipe.Well I pretty much read all the posts here and I'm still have a DTR installed tomorrow with stock fueling. Daily driver been stage 1 for 2 years. R has 97k miles now and pulling the trigger for a DTR. I don't race it or beat on it. 85% of driving is all highway. 7 years and engine never had a issue other then 2 water pumps. Last pump was put in at 75k and had carbon clean done. Was told I had almost no carbon build up on the valves. Engine is always max full on oil before a change. Tells me engine doesn't consume lots of oil. Other then that I think it's safe to put stage 3 power on a high hour engine.
Whereabouts in CT? I'm in Northern CT, I'm guessing you're going to be below Hartford as everyone I run across in CT seems to be. If we ever cross paths, you could see the difference between stock fueling and upgraded. I've had both stock then upgraded and it's a pretty noticeable difference on the R/S3. Like you, my car is a daily driver, I have around 75K miles, 20K with the DTR.Well I pretty much read all the posts here and I'm still have a DTR installed tomorrow with stock fueling. I'm surprised you didn't pull away. They have some HP on you, but they also are a couple hundred pounds heavier.A few updates on my DTR... This is on my '19 GLI Autobahn DSG. Car is running great, no issues other than someone rear-ending me at a red light about two weeks ago. Nothing too major, but will need a rear bumper cover and trunk lid. Dealing with insurance companies is just no fun. Car recently turned 50k miles and I've had the kit on since about 22k, IIRC. Basically negligible oil consumption, I think I might burn 0.1-0.2 quarts every oil change, which I do about every 4-5k depending on how much interstate driving I have been doing. Still running the factory 508/509 oil.
I drove ~315 miles on the interstate the other day, about an 84mph average, got 27.7mpg out of that tank. Raced a newer facelifted ('20+) 6th gen Camaro SS auto the other night from a light on a 4 lane divided highway. Wasn't sure if he was going to go, so I turned off traction control and rolled out somewhat hard in 1st. He did as well, so once I knew he was frisky, I stabbed it. I got a little jump on him there, maybe 2/3rds a car, but from that point on, he stayed there until about 155mph. We were about to go into a moderate bend in the road, and I didn't want be going through there at 160+ with him next to me, so I stabbed the brakes. He lifted, went through the corner, and then took off again. I don't think he wanted to talk...
My car is probably close to the same weight as his... I am a BIG guy (300+) and had luggage as well. My point is that just on any given day without preparations, my four door sedan can run with an honest sports car like that which can run high 11's, low 12's.I'm surprised you didn't pull away. Stock fueling, right? Since GTI/GLI/A3 owners don't get upgraded fueling. My R is still on stock fueling but I'm contemplating on getting a custom tune on my DTR in the new year with an aftermarket downpipe. My car is probably close to the same weight as his... Yes, stock fueling.... If you have an R, get the upgraded fueling.Stock fueling, right? Since GTI/GLI/A3 owners don't get upgraded fueling. My R is still on stock fueling but I'm contemplating on getting a custom tune on my DTR in the new year with an aftermarket downpipe.
I have the HPFP and LPFP sitting at my bed side. I've been wanting to put a downpipe on since a fair amount of people have been doing it and no issues have been reported thus far, but the tune isn't calibrated for the increase in flow from the stock downpipe to something like a Milltek HJS catted downpipe.Yes, stock fueling.... So why not just put the fueling upgrades in, have the tune flashed, and then see where you're at?I have the HPFP and LPFP sitting at my bed side.
