I noticed the R is left out of the ECU update list. Have you or anyone at APR noticed any of the same behaviors in power level differences with MK7 R's and the DTR?

We have not not on the R. Always happy to investigate if something were off of course!

TCU DQ250 - No updated needed
ECU (IS38 based cars) - No updated needed

Files are being created as we speak (there are a lot of them) and will be placed under beta at the moment.

I will update everyone when all files are ready and we are ready to start contacting customers and dealers with next steps.

ECU Changes (High Level, Simos 18.10 ECUs):

- Adjusted 2WD torque control
- Fixed torque reduction at full throttle
- Fixed premature protection routine
- Fixed low ignition advanced
- Fixed IAT comp
- Raised rev limiter to avoid soft limiter activation on gear changes

TCU Changes (High Level, DQ381 TCUs):

- Fixed max shift points at 100% pedal in drive mode

Older Simos 18.x ECUs will be confirmed before updating. Suspected similar changes to 18.10 with a few exceptions, such as Ignition.

To be clear -- These are updates only for cars with the DTR kit, right? Just clarifying if the protection routines issues you found are or are not an issue with your other staged tunes.

I'm not understanding APR's avoidance on being clear on the issue. Now we're seeing a massive amount of systems being updated for TCU and a bunch for the ECU suggesting this wasn't some minor issue that only applied to the GLI. What is being changed here? Was the problem in the ECU or TCU? What was the problem? Why wouldn't it affect the R models? Why wouldn't you even look at the R models to make sure?

There was also wording alluding to additional power being made but now it's back to "advertised" power only. Which is it?

The feedback and transparency they provided thus far is very good. It's honestly none of our business to know exactly what the issue is. Do you think Arin is gonna comment like "Oh yeah Johnny boy in Engineering messed up some assembly code, back to the streets for him".

I think it's been made relatively clear that I (so far the only R in existence with the kit that i know of lol) feel like my car is slower than it was as a stage 2 (mid torque) file. In other words, feels like i am 50-60 hp shy of the advertised figures, about the same as Braunman did. I did provide videos to prove it, and AM WILLING to go back to GRD Tuned to have them log me - though you said the logs didn't show anything for the GTI guys, only Dyno'ing did, in which case i am willing to go get dyno'd.

I just need some confirmation that APR is willing to work with me, and willing to work with the shop to help log and stuff.

I also did speak with Mobile One Inc, who does have a dyno, they reached out to me personally to offer dyno'ing and logging, so that may be a better option. But APR would need to let me know what data they need or provide some form of availability to mess with the file and stuff.

Yes, that's exactly what I'd expect to hear. Just tell us what the problem is and what the actual scope is. I don't understand why it's so difficult.

I *want* to buy this kit. I *won't* if APR continues to be shady with information sharing about the issues. They might not give a crap about me as a single customer, but I'm sure there are others watching what is playing out with the kit having issues and deciding to not go with it.

Absolutely we're happy to work with you. For starters, let's open a support ticket. Please email support@goapr.com and fill them in on the details.

Thank you,

Arin,

I am also willing to grab some logs and data for your support team to help narrow down if there are any issues with the IS38 variant of the DTR tune. Going off what Rice said earlier about having to dyno to find the issue, since the support team knows what they are looking for at this point, would a dyno still be necessary or would the logs be enough to see if the IS38 variant of the tune is exhibiting the same issues the IS20 variant did? If so that may save some time and hassle for both of us.

I just want to clarify. I am not saying there particularly is an issue, but I'm sure some outside data would help address any concerns if any.

I'm personally not aware of any issues on the R. Just Rice above saying it was lower than what he expected. Support would be happy to look at logs. Look at dynos. Things like that. I would work with the support team rather than me though. If you have an issue, it's always best to get a ticket in the system so we can track it and properly support you.
