Group Buy Extension & Discount Tier Adjustments

Thank you to everyone who has participated in our VW/Audi 17” SM-10 Winter Group Buy thus far! To help provide an opportunity to pledge for those recently learning about this deal, we decided to make a few adjustments to the terms. To ensure we have a better chance of unlocking the max discount tier, we have decided to extend the pledge deadline by 48 hours to Thursday, October 20th at 11:59 PM PST. Additionally, we have also lowered the requirement for the maximum discount down to 20 pledges.

Considering we currently have 19 pledges locked-in, with another 28 enthusiasts on the interested list, there is no reason why we shouldn’t be able to unlock the max discount of $300 off plus free shipping*. With that said, if you are still on the interested list, now is the time to submit your official pledge before the deal ends.

I pledged for $100 minimum so I'm not sure why I got that email. I reached out to @APEXWheels via their groupbuy email account to see if they could add some clarity.

Is a 255/40/17 tire going to be too aggressive for a DD?

Is a 255/40/17 tire going to be too aggressive for a DD?

Per their fitment guide:

Wider Alternative: 245/40-17

• Direct fit with most street tire compounds
• More aggressive tire compounds may require a "fender screw mod" to alleviate rubbing under suspension compression
• All-Season: Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 (540 TW)
• Max Performance Summer: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (300 TW), Continental Extreme Contact (340TW)
• Extreme Performance Summer: Yokohama A052 (200 TW), Dunlop Direzza ZIII (200 TW), Falken RT660 (200 TW), Continental Extremecontact Force (200 TW), BFG Rival S 1.5 (200 TW)
• R-Compounds: Goodyear Supercar Eagle 3R (100 TW), Toyo R888R (100 TW)

Based on that I'd expect fitment issues.

Is a 255/40/17 tire going to be too aggressive for a DD?

It depends on the tires being used. The 255/40-17 is a better fit for the 17x9" ET42, so I would not recommend it with the 17x8.5" ET43. With street tires, you can typically use the 17x9" ET42 with 255/40-17 tires as a mostly direct fit. In most cases, a fender screw mod will be required to alleviate any potential rubbing.

Nope! 225/45-17 tires are quite a mild fitment, so you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever.

got mine on Saturday, they look great in the box, can't wait to see them on the car! One question, I noticed the valve stems and red center caps were not included in the shipment. Was this a packing error or do those things get shipped later/separately? Thanks.

Please PM me your sales order number and I will look into this ASAP. If you haven't already pulled the wheels out of the box, I would recommend doing so as the smaller accessories are typically taped to the side of the box or inside of the wheels. Sometimes they can be easy to miss.

Valve stems are mostly universal. Any standard valve stem can work just fine with the SM-10s, we just offer the metal versions for a nice upgrade over the standard rubber ones.

I found them tucked under a flap. I'm in love with the bronze color. It's a darker bronze so it's not ostentatious. Everyone at the tire shop was coming out to look at the car, already received a ton of compliments. Driving wise I noticed a huge difference in feel coming from 18 inch BBS CH's. Car feels more nimble and lighter on its feet. Overall 10/10 would buy again.
