I'm getting ready to install and have everything prepped to go. I'm give the parts I used and I'll add some pics tomorrow. I'll update with install pics and instruction. Please don't turn this thread into a discussion of why AGM is better, the cost etc... This is not a cheap way to replace your battery and every battery has pros and cons. This thread is about the parts I used, install, and my longterm experience, so others that may want to try it have another data point to help make that choice.

Please feel free to add any info if you've done a similar battery. I haven't seen many longterm threads with impressions and experiences, so I'll update and give my longterm experience as time goes, feel free to add yours too.

Here's links to the parts I used.

Howdy,

Following along. Running my car in STH for autocross and getting some weight off the nose wouldn't be a bad thing. Plus my current (lead) battery is corroding away. :)

I ran a crazy lightweight battery in our old STS Civic (1.5 lb Battery Tender) and never had any issues with it, but that was a dedicated car and it basically lived on a charger. I'm curious if battery tech has gotten to the point where a significantly lighter battery like this is truly daily driver ready.

Installed today after a full charge on the charger. Just a drill, battery brace off amazon and a couple J rods.

Howdy,

Looks good!

Be sure to post up your experiences with this! I'm most interested in how it works for daily driving, if you don't drive the car for a week, etc. etc. Basically "How tolerant is it of use/abuse?"

I bought a charger and plan to put it on the charger if it's going to sit for a week.

Heck that is more secure than the stock boat anchor of a battery I just installed.
What is the weight on that? Way smaller footprint as well.

3.5 lbs. It's 22ah and claimed 600 CCA.

I weighted the stock battery, it's 35 lbs.

Also, from my research, a 22ah lithium ion is equivalent to a 60ah lead acid battery. That's because voltage drops off at 30% drained for a lead acid and lithium voltage doesn't drop off until 90% drained. The issue with lithium ion is that the battery is destroyed if you drain them.

Howdy,

Does the Antigravity one have internal controls to switch itself 'off' if the voltage gets low? Like to prevent battery destruction, I mean.

edit: Also... What's the deal with the insulation blanket? Performance reason for it? Something else?

It's supposed to have internal controls, but I'll have to look at what they specifically protect against.

The blanket is to reduce the radiant heat making it to the battery. Heat is the enemy of Lithium Ion batteries.

Hmm all in this looks like not too bad out of pocket.

Howdy,

Did you make any coding changes to account for the different battery type?

Mark

I did, with OBD11. I set it to lithium ion and 22a capacity.
