AMS Intercooler Question

Whichever you can get cheaper. I run an AMS on my GTI since I got a good deal. I also liked the fact it's very light weight.

These Unitronic intercoolers are usually decently priced.
Ebay Majesty Tube and Fin Competition. Cheap and works. Probably works as well as AMS or Unitronic. No real fitment issues. Only drawback is that you can't say you have a AMS or APR intercooler. Not a problem for me cuz I just tell people "it's stock". Just fuck around and find out.
This. I don't think there's much of a real-world difference on any reputable big name intercooler.
From my personal experience, avoid the Burger Motorsports intercooler.

Absolutely right. Hahaha. Make sure it's the "Competition" "Tube and Fin" one. Bar and plate is great for a FMIC that needs some durability, but tube and fin is the right choice for a sandwich setup.
AMS has some of the tightest fin spacing I have come across, which requires very thin fins. I'm skeptical that an eBay T&F core will be of similar quality and work as well. The eBay one I tried wasn't a Majesty brand, but it didn't cool all that well. Unitronic doesn't cool as well as AMS, at least not under the conditions I've measured using my GTI. WRT cooling the AMS has been the best of the four brand-name T&F products I've used. I've used a number of B&P designs as well and the difference with T&F is immaterial for street use.
That's why I say it MUST be the "Competition" Tube and Fin. That's the one with the thicker core and wider inlet and outlet. Even if it's not 100% as good as the AMS, it's probably 90 percent there and 1/3 the price. It's really good.
