when i did my install, they programmed it to display the 2 door variant gti, but mine is a 4 door so it does not show rear door open indicator. will coding it to 4 door fix this or is there more to code?

That should do it. iirc there’s no model-specific graphics as in the MIB, you just get a generic Golf (either two door, four door, or wagon)

Yep, that looks right to me for a 4-dr Mk7.5 GTI. So for long coding in byte 2, bits 3-6 you'd be looking at:

bit 3: uncheck
bit 4: check
bit 5: uncheck
bit 6: uncheck

can confirm, it shows 4 door with rear door open in red. obdeleven also had a one click app for it. virtual cockpit vehicle model or display. it had preset for 4 door hatch or 4 door kombi based on detecting the connected vehicle

TL/DR: by changing "Display depiction" to "Variant 3", you basically get the dots (which are beautiful!)

It worked on my GTE with retrofitted AID, Tube version remained "variant_1"

On another side-topic, does anybody know why staging does not work on my cluster? It's checked in Long Coding... I have 794 B.

Do you know if staging was supported on the e-Golf? I do not know... but I ask because your cluster, although cross-flashed with 794 B, may not be 100% working as 794 B.

Yes, hardware is 795A indeed, from e-golf, but it was cross-flashed to 794B, which is GTE. I assume there is no hardware requirement for this, since it's all virtual, but good points..

Is there a way to change the car type when exiting the car(R, GTI)? changing the variant only changes it from estate to hatchback.

So a brand new (at the time) Golf R, comes out of the factory with a regular Golf on the cluster instead of a Golf R?

I'm saying that's all I've seen. Quick look several youtube videos of the digital dash on EU Golf Rs and didn't see any quad tail pipes. For that matter didn't see any Golf R front bumpers either .
