Accessing Air filter on 1.4 TSI 122

Hello

Has anyone inspected their air filter yet?

I wanted to see what condition mine was in but I cannot get into it.

Is there a technique for removing the plastic cover without breaking the plastic clips?

Any suggestions and help gratefully appreciated.

Having broken a clip off the said part I decided to have a more focused approach to finding out.

Basically, you disconnect the large pipes coming into and out of the air filter housing.

Once done, get a hand underneath the air box - probably best on the left side of the part when viewed from the front - and give it a firm lift.

Turn the part over and there are two Philips screws.

Undo these and the top easily comes off the air box, once the clips are pressed.

The air filter is a strange shape, having holes in the middle of it to allow the screws to go through it.

Should you break the part as I have done - more in frustration than anything else - the part number is 04E 129 611G.
