Acc,Front assist and start-stop problem

Got the battery replaced and it didn’t work :(. My cousin said it was the radar which was what I originally thought and it needs calibration.
Calibration doesn't cause databus faults. Your cousin is wrong I'm afraid.

Did he code it in correctly and then clear codes from all modules, drive it, then clear again?

Yep he did all of this in front of me. Coded the battery, cleared the codes and then drove the car and they fault still came. He said that he found a code saying that the radar isn’t calibrated and needed doing. He has got a friend who has some equipment to do so and will try to sort it out. However only VW can recalibrate it. I’m not too sure what to do

Have all of the other faults now gone? I don't recall seeing a calibration fault on your previous outputs.

I can’t remember what he exactly said but it was something regarding a steering sensor I think which was related to the radars calibration. There is a code on the previous file I sent you regarding the loss of communication with the radar. Also many people have reported having this problem too where the radar has affected the stop start. I’m just going to send it to vw or just leave it for now. If you have anymore advice I’d be grateful. Is there anything I can do using my rubbish ob2 Carista 😂

Loss of communication was the battery.

Steering angle sensor is a normal fault when you replace the battery. You need to turn the steering wheel lock to lock to calibrate the steering control module. This is not related to the radar.

Please scan your car again.

YES that’s what he said steering angle sensor. So all I need to do is turn it lock to lock. Will the Carista suffice or do I need to get it done with a VCDS. Also you seem to have lots of expertise in this area, are you a mechanic? I really appreciate your help!!

Yes, that's right. Lock to lock should sort that and then you will be able to clear the code. Not sure what Carista can do and can't do in terms of clearing codes. Another scan like your previous one (I'm assuming that was from Carista?) would be useful.

Not a mechanic, but a software engineer who spent a long time researching the electrical system on this car after I had an issue with my EPB that VW couldn't fix.

I’ll get to it tomorrow then. What section would the code be under I’ll see if I can clear it with my Carista but I doubt it. That’s amazing haha always better to do it yourself. Also I noticed you have the LED taillights retrofitted to your car. I’m planning on doing these to my own, were yours plug and play or did they require coding

Control Unit 44 (Steering Assist).

Yeah, I spent a good year or so reading VW official training materials, studying wiring diagrams, and I've also done a bunch of retrofits too.

The light clusters were plug and play to an extent, but you need to run a wire from the outside lights to the inside lights for the indicators as the stock pov spec lights don't have indicators on the inside (hatch). No coding required for the pre-facelift ones.

Do you have a link for the lights you’ve got. Is it really difficult to do or am I better off getting them done

Looking at the second set of codes Using the BCDS I sent there were no codes under the control unit 44. Does this come on after the battery replacement
