From my own experiences with a hybrid at that range, you'd still be fighting for traction. If I went all out, I'd just spin right through 2nd.

3rd gear is where it's at at that range.

You are absolutely correct.

But you don't need traction when you have a positive attitude.

I took the much more expensive option, and just went AWD to not worry about traction problems.
