8 inch Glass Screen - App button not working

I have a 2016 Mk7 Golf R with Discover Pro (8inch mat screen) with the latest software for this year of car.
I have just swapped the screen out for an 8 inch screen from the later models and I have the known issue of the App button not working.
Has anyone who has had this issue managed to get the App button to work either though a software update or VCDS etc?
I've spoken to a couple of techies who think they could get the App button to work via a software update but the information they have given me so far has been a little sketchy.

MIB software updates are a bit tricky... due to the different manufacturers, and the software numbers are not sequential (higher number does not always mean later software). But you will most likely need a software change to get the button working. I have not read anywhere that coding (VCDS) has anything to do with it.

If you actually search I have a posted about the solution.
The solution is to update the software version of the MIB unit unofficially (yes, Volkswagen limits updates but keeps the same hardware), the person who does the job asked me to not make him public because he is full of work and cannot receive massive requests of people just asking.
Yes, I am new to the forums since I have been registered 2010.
It took me 1 year to get to the final solution code free working with specialist, it is not DIYer job, you can actually brick the unit if you are not guided/supported.

As bonus if you want android auto to work properly and wireless AAWireless dongle has a special bug features that's solves the Preh units of getting stuck or reboot if you are changing songs keeping AA natively.

If you have the skills please search "mib solutions" and "mib2toolbox"

You're providing all this information now, which is appreciated. But you could have just done that to begin with 🤷🏿‍♂️. Or posted a short response and said that you would post more info when you had the time.

Still you say you've posted the solution somewhere but there's no link to it. Search works well for some things, but it can also be hard to find information about a specific issue, especially if there are lots of similar topics.
