really temping to get a hpfp and custom tune for the is20 just to see what it can do, I guess 350-380 is pretty good to beat most cars around here. I would think you need to be in park to change maps from 'normal' to 'kill' map. Say you are driving on the highway and a vett rolls up, can you switch like that (I assume no) never had an AP yet

The car has to be engine off/ignition on to flash maps.

I personally have had great tuning experience with Jon and it irritates me when I have to defend him from folks that either have an agenda or have not had any experience with him personally. I'm sure there are the ones that have geniune issues but then there are others that like to just create conflict. Before EQT blew up to where it is now, Jon was the go-to Cobb tuner for the MK7. He tuned a shit ton of cars and at the same time ran a full-service auto shop. I think he was a little over his head with workload so response time and customer service suffered but he has dialed down the full-service shop and hopefully should be more accessible now.

Here are a coupld of examples of the top notch customer service I received from Jon. A few years back I came down to LA from northern CA for a Disneyland trip. Since I was there, I asked Jon to finish up my etune on his dyno. He agreed even though I wouldn’t get the car there till a weekend and he doesn’t typically dyno tune on weekends. Top it off he didn’t even charge me for the dyno tune service. Fast forward to earlier this month, I come down again to LA to retune for adding MPI. After the tuning session, driving back to my hotel I get stranded on the side of the road. I facebook message Jon and luckily he responds right away and comes to my aid. Turns out the issue was just a screw for the boost tap fell out so he jerry-rigged something to get me back on the road.
Yea I agree with this. 5150 was definitely the go to, and then eqt came on the scene. Now they are the go to. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but it really is about what end result you get from said tuner and if you are happy. I do see both good and bad experiences from every tuner. People do look to those reviews to see who to go with. Constant negative talk can definitely hurt someone’s business just as positive feedback can do the opposite. As I rock an eqt tune 😅

You don't need the HPFP for an IS20 unless maybe you're running E85 and then you would need the LPFP instead of the HPFP. And you'll have a hard time getting to 380 HP on an IS20 without E.

For Cobb the hpfp is the one needed for high e85 blend on is20. Lpfp might be a good idea for more headroom but the hpfp is what is required for this particular tune and not lpfp.

So why do you only need the LPFP on an IS38 on E85? All the threads I've read said that it's the LPFP that pushes the necessary volume of fuel for E85. So I don't get why the IS20 would be any different.

Who said you only need lpfp for e85 is38? They’re wrong. or they aren’t running any boost.

I've read several people say that for E85 it's only the LPFP that is necessary. I'm not going to waste my time hunting for those that said that but when I come across those posts I'll copy you so you can see where I saw that.

Here is what Jon recommends for fueling for full E85.

HPFP for full E85 on an IS20
LPFP/HPFP maybe doable but recommends LPFP and MPI to ensure everything works properly for IS38
For hybrid LPFP, MPI and PM4 if you don't want to limit boost for full E85

Yup, that’s incorrect info, or maybe only partial info... you could have read only LPFP with MPI.

Easiest way to put it, hpfp is cam driven so it’s weak point in regards to flow is around peak TQ 3800 to 4800 ish, once the RPMs bet higher the pump is capable to pulse more and In turn flow more, the reason you only need hpfp for is20 is that at high rpms they cannot flow enough air to need the higher level of fueling that would max the hpfp out... the is38 and hybrid can though, so that’s why you need both.

Okay I believe you guys. If I see any of the posts where I learned that I'll point them out. Thanks for setting me straight.

Maybe you are confused to where people say skip the hpfp and go lpfp and mpi :)
