Hi everyone.

I own a 2016 1.4TSI (150HP) Golf MK7 which had no issues whatsoever ever since I bought it.

About two months ago I started my car and was sitting idle for a few minutes and then the check engine light flashed and the engine sounded rough. I knew it was a misfire so I immediately hooked up VCDS and noticed misfire on cylinder 1. My spark plugs were replaced 2 weeks before that so I suspected it's the ignition coils. I tried to switch between two cylinders but the fault was sporadic and never showed again so I replaced all 4 as a part of a preventive maintenance.

About a week ago after driving to work the engine had a weird hissing noise when sitting idle and after hooking up VCDS again I could see another misfire fault:

The only thing I did not test is the spark plug wires but since the MK7 coils sit on top of the plugs and there are no wires connecting the two... could it be the wires that go into the coil?

Any other things I should check?

Adding a video of the engine noise when the misfire occurred. You can clearly hear the "roaring" noise...

First you need to clear or sort all the other fault codes on your car!....sounds like you have a low battery!!

Misfires are usually bad fuel, or bad or wrong spark plugs..what new spark plugs did you fit??

The fault codes are due to hacked MIB2 unit…

my battery is new

Spark plugs and ignition coils are OEM NGK.

That's throwing up loads of strange codes in other modules...!!

Which spark plugs did you fit???

Are you saying that the factory fit coils & spark plugs were NGK?...as usually its Bosch spark plugs & Beru coils fitted at factory for most of the EA211 engines.

Sry to jump into this topic but I have a problem with Tiguan mk2 in my family. It failed to pass emission test due to oxygen sensos issue and subsequent level of carbon oxide. However, the car run perfectly, no issue with smoke, smell, higher consumption or lower power. Alco, VCDS found no fault in engine unit and readiness is all green. Well I don’t want to change both lambda sensors now, as both are showing some functionality – in measured blocks, the figures are changing depending of the throttle position.

Is there any way to conduct some test using VCDS focusing on oxygen sensor? I remember that on old Mk4 (that had factory fitted lambda sensor from Lamborghini Gallardo so pretty expensive), I was able to conduct some test with final result shown „ok or not ok“.

The car has similar engine like Fraysa but with ACT, and also pretty similar like Dave (but with different SW so a bit more ponies).

All service done regularly – spark plugs changed a year and 11kkm before. Recently ran a long journey on Austrian petrol so unlikely to be connected with a longer still on poor fuel quality. Thx
