Disregarding which filters better VW wouldn't use cleanable filters because the cost of a simple oil and air filter change would be ridiculous.

I lost you... Don't get why it would be more expensive for oil and filter for cleaning labor when a paper filter is 25$ or so and that's ~equivalent to 15 mins of labor.

Regardless, I think we've derailed this enough for OP! Sorry OP! Still think he's getting the jump on you, building boost first and likely shifting at better points. You should both go to a drag strip and see how you do! That's a tad more fair and gives you better data .
