I originally installed just the lower to avoid increased NVH. Had it that way for roughly 3-4 weeks. It did break in some but in the back of my mind I knew that the upper was meant to work with the lower. Plenty of videos from 034 that illustrated how the mount assembly would "tilt" as the engine torqued against it. I got around to installing it on a lift (ideal, but ramps or any type of evenly lifted setup would work just fine). New bolts (all 3) should be used and the most important part of the install is torquing the bolts that go in the transmission and then making sure that the end that goes into the round puck is centered as best as possible. Starting the the engine after handtightening the bolt is the easiest way to do this. The new bolt must then be torqued to 100nm + 90 deg. In my experience, very little NVH was added this way. Hope this helps and I am happy to answer any questions about the install.
