my tires shop told me exact same thing - the valves that came with SM-10s are meant to use with TPMS, and since there is no TPMS to mount to, it will stay loose, i just told them they can reuse the stock ones suggested at no cost - i dunno... Seems like $40 wasted?

We only have one metal valve stem design, which can be used for both TPMS and non-TPMS applications. We use this same valve stem across all of our markets with all of our wheels, on cars with different TPMS designs, as well as non-TPMS cars. I have them on my own personal SM-10s and I didn't have any issues during installation. With that said, if the installer hasn't used this style of valve stem with the crush washer before, they may be hesitant to torque it until it sets.

There is also a chance that you could have a defective valve stem, however, it would be highly unlikely that all four in the set have issues with them. If that is the case, feel free to send me a PM and I can get you sorted with an exchange or return.

Currently working finalizing on our VW Fall sale this week. No plans for bringing on winter tires due to availability issues but we are still trying to add AS4s to the catalog this Fall. Stay tuned for more details regarding our VW sale as we get into October!

BTW, the AS4's work great on your rims. Running 235/45-17's on 8 1/2 x 17 rims.

Glad to hear that you like that setup so far! That's the exact same wheel/tire combo I am running on my GSW. I've been really impressed with the AS4s so far, they have plenty of grip for an all-season and don't skip a beat when plowing through heavy rain.

This is the package I'm looking at too (or dws06 plus). Is the step up from 225 to 235 at all perceptible in the gearing? Asking for a 6MT...

The DWS06 Plus is also a very solid performance all-season tire. While I would personally take the AS4 over it, you really can't go wrong with either. The overall rolling diameter difference from the stock tires to our recommended 235/45-17 is pretty negligible. All of our tire size recommendations are calculated to be within 3% of the OEM tire size overall rolling diameters to ensure there are no drivability or wheel speed issues. You shouldn't really notice a difference in gearing.


On another note, I recently posted an article on our website blog that goes over everything you need to know for running a reverse staggered setup on a MK7 Golf/GTI/R. The article is based around my interview with Brian Smith, the lead driver for Easthood Racing, who currently runs a reverse staggered SM-10 setup on his race prepped MK7 GTI. Not really. I ran 235/45R17 on my old GTI (2017) and it felt the same except ride comfort was better. I currently run 255/40R17 DSW06+on both my 2019 and 2021 GTIs. No complaints at all.

I'm really happy with the fitment of this wheelset. 18x9 et42 with 265/35-18 Tire Street Accelera 651 Sport.

Plenty of clearance over the StopTech ST-60 380x32mm without the 1mm spacer that was advised.

Just heard back from our engineering team! They tested the 18x9" ET42 with all rotor sizes (340mm, 345mm, and 370mm) of the Neuspeed kit, and the 350mm Racing brake kit, as well. Our 18x9" ET42 SM-10 will clear both of those BBKs without any issues. Plenty of clearance on both the spoke and barrel side of things, so no need for any additional spacing, either.

It is hard to 100% confirm that setup will be a direct fit, as every car can be slightly different fitment-wise. However, I would imagine you would likely need to do the fender screw mod to have a fully rub-free fitment under suspension compression. A little bit of negative camber up front would also help alleviate any rubbing, as well as address any poke you might have with those more aggressive 255 tires.

Currently, we do not have any active promotions going on for these wheels. However, we do offer an active military discount of $50 off a set of four wheels. We are also planning to run a Fall sale on our VW wheels, which will be starting in the next few weeks.
