Hello,

I still love my SM-10's that I got in the original group buy. Only problem I have is when I run them, my wheels make horrible squeaking (loud HRRRRRRR) noises when lightly letting off the brakes and I can't figure out why this only occurs with these wheels. When I put the stock wheels back on, everything is completely noise free.

I see the 2023 GTI (I have a 2019) asks for 103 ft-lbs for the lug nut torque. Is it possible I need more torque on the Sm-10 wheels over the factory style wheels? Im stumped.

What wheel size & tire size, both on the SM-10s and on the factory wheels? can you tell if it's coming from the front or rear?

When you say "lightly letting off the brakes" do you mean when letting off from light braking, or slightly backing off from heavier braking?

I torqued my wheels to 100 lbs for my mk7.5. I'd start there. It's possible your wrench is out of calibration.

I did exactly that yesterday just to confirm my hunch. Will see how it goes. Love these wheels!

Nope. Still a problem. I was reminded while in a queue to leave the parking garage last night. Easily reproducible by being at a stop and letting off the brake just enough for the car to move itself. Then it is HRRRRRRRR city.

Any marking of there being contact anywhere? That sounds like there has to be contact

Bro has holes all in the fender liner from self clearancing. Been there, don't that.

Don't think so. It really sounds like it is the brakes making the noise. As soon as I release brakes there's no noise at all. Car is stock except wheels. I'll try to get a video of it.

Brakes would happen on other wheels too, unless there's contact against them being made that's not easily seen.
