Late update - ended up not going for a 981, went for a 718 instead. Even looks like it might drop to AS from SS this year, which would be nice! Arrives at my door later this week if the snow doesn't get in the way.

It's not going to cause understeer, as the outside tire is still going to provide the majority of the cornering grip. What it will do is reduce (somewhat) the amount of torque you can put through the inside tire, so it will effectively delay your throttle application. Remember the VW does brake...

I'm including autox in there, not sure I want to spend all the money on consumables otherwise! I'm fairly lucky to have several good tracks within a couple hours drive so I only need a 1 day pass at home!

My familial obligations mean that my track time is fairly limited (1-2 days a month), so unfortunately wouldn't pay off great for me right now... But that's a great idea in general!
