repeated brake seizure in front corner

We had this on two cars. Both on stock calipers. I tried cleaning and checking everything. Couldn't find any problem. Still continued. Bleeded the brakes. Helped a bit but problem came back. Changed to a new caliper and it worked. Second car I just changed the caliper and problem went away...

How to retro-fit the rear subframe harmonic damper from the Audi A3 Saloon (2013->)

If you saw my measurements a bit earlier, it’s clear the damper works. I was also surprised how big the difference is. The e-Golf being heavier the bigger difference was in the noise.

Post your experiences: 034 Motorsports Locking collar kit for MQB, or TyrolSport Deadset

I know this thread is about handling as priority. But did anyone evaluate the NVH from this modification? I'm asking because I'm planning to do the opposite. The "non-performance" versions of the Golf have a rigid subframe. I plan to swap this for the one you have with bushings. Just very...

How to retro-fit the rear subframe harmonic damper from the Audi A3 Saloon (2013->)

I checked because of the different track. Hub carrier sounds likely.

How to retro-fit the rear subframe harmonic damper from the Audi A3 Saloon (2013->)

It’s exactly for the bushes I would do it. I checked the lower control arms. The mounting point distance is the same and so is the length of the arms.

How to retro-fit the rear subframe harmonic damper from the Audi A3 Saloon (2013->)

Today I had a Golf 7 and a Passat on hoists. I checked the rear subframes and I’m 99% sure the Passat subframe would fit the Golf. I will try to find one to install on my car.

How to retro-fit the Mk8 rear suspension aero covers or stone guards to a Mk7 Golf.

I'm sure it works magic when you reverse with the car :)

Maody's Golf 7.5 GTi TCR on Tracks (mostly Nordschleife)

I just remembered there is a video on youtube from my drive. The university I worked for put it there. Geez, already 11 years ago. It's from the times when electric cars weren't crazy fast like nowadays. The battery heated up so much, I could do only one lap per day. Then charging and cooling...

Maody's Golf 7.5 GTi TCR on Tracks (mostly Nordschleife)

I did VLN with 2 VAG cars. Both in AT. The Bora was i 1.9 TDI and the TT a LPG 1.8. The Bora was really good to drive and surprisingly fast. Best lap was 10:01 on the VLN track.

Maody's Golf 7.5 GTi TCR on Tracks (mostly Nordschleife)

Kudos! Really nice laps. Not much traffic, except some parked Pooches, Daimlers, etc. I didn't drive there in 10 years. I used to but it's too far away and costs way too much. Last 10 years I did ~70 laps but all with my bicycle. Earlier I drove in the IP for work. Also some VLN and one 24 h race.

Maody's Golf 7.5 GTi TCR on Tracks (mostly Nordschleife)

Did you ever drive the whole lap or only BtG? Would be interesting to know what lap times the car can do. Maybe it says here but 28 pages is too much to scroll

Can i run different tyre sizes for front and rear?

Of course there are speed sensors in all hubs. Has been since ABS came into cars. I believe haldex can cope with difference. The risk is that with different sizes, the system thinks the wheels spin slightly and might start locking the clutch. This would cause resistance and wear. However, I...

Can i run different tyre sizes for front and rear?

Stability control will work okay At 99% probability speed is taken from ABS. Sensor in gearbox is from the past. I did observe this is FWD. With AWD the diameters should be very close.

Can i run different tyre sizes for front and rear?

IMHO 225/45R18 is a perfect size for the Golf. If it's not lowered a lot there's no rubbing either. And it makes the speedo more accurate. Personally I use even bigger (diameter) tires. In all ceses so far the TPMS (from the ABS) has calibrated without problems.

Can i run different tyre sizes for front and rear?

Yes. Except for the one Passat case with really big difference. Did the other way too when I needed to run in 215/65r16 and 195/65r15. 15” didn’t fit front brakes so I used them in the back and the big ones in the front. That was on an Alhambra.

Can i run different tyre sizes for front and rear?

As I test tires, we often use different front and rear tires. They definitely don’t have to be identical.

Can i run different tyre sizes for front and rear?

It will most likely work. I used bigger differences in a Passat and worst case the ACC stopped working due to camera misalignment. Just try and you’ll see if you like It. In my taste the front tires would be too small though. You can always buy two new tires then.
