    Show us your MK7

🙏 appreciate that! Not bad for nearly 11 years and 170k miles, huh? My goal has always been to show up to EuroTripper 25 or something and have the cleanest OEM+ Mk7 around lol.

Another EuroTripper in the books! It was awesome to have both cars featured on the main field this year - achievement unlocked.

GTI has been on daily duty with all the nasty weather we've had down this way. Grabbed this shot down in Miami the other night and thought it was cool.

    Suction Pump Seal Recall

I actually just remembered the initial recall on this now too - so that means I'm currently on my 2nd gas tank and 3rd or 4th suction pump/charcoal canister as it stands. I've genuinely lost count lol.

    Suction Pump Seal Recall

I had my suction pump and charcoal canister replaced under a warranty extension back in 2022 (after already having the entire gas tank replaced years ago for the same issue). I also got the new recall notice but I'm planning to hold off on bringing the car in unless I have another issue. I'm...

    A/C fan speed issues

This. Happened on my car a year or so ago - my compressor ended up having a small leak which caused the system to be low on refrigerant and iced up the evaporator on longer drives. Airflow and cooler air would return after the car sat for a bit and everything thawed out. I overhauled the whole...

2018 VW GTI SE, HVAC seems blocked on long drives

Glad to hear you're back in action for now, but remember the AC is a closed system and should not be low on refrigerant. If you're low, you have a leak somewhere and will need to identify where it is. Keep an eye on it and get it looked at properly soon.

2018 VW GTI SE, HVAC seems blocked on long drives

Your evaporator is icing up, meaning you're low on refrigerant and have a leak somewhere. I had this exact problem on my car a while ago and it turned out to be a leak in the compressor. I took the opportunity to overhaul the entire AC system - compressor, condenser, expansion valve, etc. Car is...

    Diagnosing HVAC/vent issue

See my post above - you have a leak somewhere and are low on refrigerant. Need to find the source of the leak and replace that component before refilling to the proper refrigerant level. Compressor, condenser, etc. are all common points of failure.

    No more boost gauge needed

Your master tech isn't vetting his info properly then lol. This is 100% from a tuner and not a factory software update. Reverse image search is a Google function - you can drag and drop images into a Google image search (or just right click in Chrome) and it will find that image or images...

    No more boost gauge needed

Source on this? Just curious. Edit: Just did a reverse image search. This is from an aftermarket tuning company, TuneZilla. Taken from an IG post, not an OEM post/image:

Rare occasion that they were both clean at the same time lol

What did you do to your mk7 today?

Lol yep. 162k miles here, IS38 for the last 55k. Honestly the way it should come from factory - really wakes the whole car up and gives you usable power at the upper end of the powerband where the IS20 loses steam. If you aren't already running one, I strongly recommend and upgraded intercooler...

What did you do to your mk7 today?

Happy to report the CEL hasn't returned and the SAI pump definitely sounds different on cold starts now. I'm pretty optimistic that my $5 Gorilla Tape fix did the trick lol. Feels good to be dailying the GTI again for a change - still brings a smile to my face even 10 years later (my car...

What did you do to your mk7 today?

Yeah, I’ve heard mixed things overall but have personally had good experience with their engine/trans/pendulum mounts. To be fair, the failed shock mounts were 4 years old with 60k+ miles on them (lowered on fairly stiff Racing Line dampers). Only replaced them with 034 again because of FCP’s...

What did you do to your mk7 today?

Gave the GTI some attention today after spending too much time with the RS3 lately lol. Finally tackled my rear shock mounts - driver side was clunking pretty bad. Replaced the 034s with a new set (thanks to FCP Euro's warranty). Seems they have revised these mounts in the last few years, as...

    Intercooler recommendation

Agree with Diggs - any aftermarket IC will be an upgrade over stock. The R one is slightly larger, but minimally so and not worth using. I'm running a Wagner on my IS38 GTI and it's been great, even through the dead of summer here in FL.

Engine Shaking significantly on ignition and then a continuous shake on idle

You likely need new engine and transmission mounts. The stock ones are quite soft and get worn over time. I'm sure the added torque from being a TDI doesn't help with their longevity either.
