Prior Cobb implementations reused/remapped other inputs to the ECU (TGV valves for Subaru, or the downstream O2 sensor). I'm assuming (purely speculation) that they began down the MQB flex path similarly, and have since pivoted due to the EPA cracking down.
Suspect there will be no changes...
Late to the party here, but POR-15 is the best rust treatment I have ever used.
It's a bit expensive, and doesn't like UV, but it's easy to use, permanent, and can be painted over. Also comes in a variety of colors.
Whew, glad I didn't make an account!! /s
Apparently I'm old and crotchety, but I HATE how a source can be a link to another source that's login/paywall protected.
Also, get off my lawn. . .
(Not at you in particular Arin, I think you've actually done a pretty fantastic job handling all of...
This is good advice, but a bit Monday morning quarterback for many.
EQT openly recommends disconnecting the rear O2 sensor with their Stage 2 OTS tune.
IE still sells their downpipe WITH their stage 2 tuning solution.
ECUTek is owned by the same company as Cobb, and hasn't YET taken as...
Sounds like anyone running an aftermarket downpipe will need to be creative w/ spacers/etc going forward (assuming of course your car isn't already tuned).
Not surprised to see this, but figured I'd share:

Will be interesting to see...
Impressive numbers for sure, but seems inflated based on what's been possible on the stock fuel system.
Will be interested to see 1/4 mile times as they start rolling in.
Understood, but (we'll ignore the cost of tuning device since it's not incremental):
GT2260 + intercooler + Custom tune = ~$1350+$900+$500=$2750 results in an anticipated 375whp (downpipe/fuel limited)
(I know you didn't add the intercooler, but that seems batshit crazy to me so I won't exclude...
Would be a shame to upgrade the turbo w/o fueling mods to take advantage. I understand the context of the conversation isn't full send, and this is how one begins their descent down the rabbit hole, but a shame just the same. . .
BadHombre indeed. . . Jokes aside, I think they'll struggle to get CARB on board with any aftermarket cats. "NexGen" seems to be tailored towards CARB, so my admittedly uninformed guess is Cobb will be stage 1 OTS only going forward (stage 2 if they continue to split out intercoolers).
We'll...
Friendly wager - If their NexGen rollout includes downpipes, I'll send you a 6'r of Iowa local craft beer (it's better than you'd expect, and shockingly not corn based). If it doesn't, you'll owe me the same. 😁 Thoughts?
Thought about a new thread, but since this one foreshadowed other tuners following APR's lead..
Cobb announces "Project Green Speed" to eliminate the sale of downpipes for model year 2014 and newer vehicles. Details here:

Not sure it...

My guess is tuners recommend the narrower gap because they can't control the maintenance level of every car they tune. Narrower gap increases the odds of success over a larger population, and ideally fewer complaints/questions...
