    Suspension droop limiting options

Hello folks, Getting custom springs to go with Bilstein B4 DCC shocks. I calculated that there will be about 1" of extra travel / droop when the shocks (front) are fully extended. What are some good options to prevent the springs from coming loose? Helper springs (seems to be the most common...

Suspension measurements and surprising findings on my Sportwagen - B8s/H&R Sport setup

You're adding 1.5" to the stack height of the spring, and most springs are already somewhat close to coil bind upon full suspension compression. If I wanted to raise my car, I'd just add more padding or shims on top of the spring.

Suspension measurements and surprising findings on my Sportwagen - B8s/H&R Sport setup

I don't know which type of "helper spring" you are referring to, but the kind that can "restore ride height" will cause coil bind

Suspension measurements and surprising findings on my Sportwagen - B8s/H&R Sport setup

2024 bump to add that I too did the zip tie test and found out that I am ridin' the stops on stock suspension that has sagged ~10mm over 6 years. Have people just decided "oh well" and embraced leaning into the bump stops on every corner? And regarding the rear: Is there enough wheel travel to...

OEM-ish bump stops shorter than 55mm?

Hello folks, Instead of cutting bump stops, are there any stock VW's that have ones shorter than 55mm, fat end approx 60+mm, for strut shaft 22mm? This would be for the front struts of a Mk7 R. (I know APR sells a 40mm one, of harder durometer) Would rather not cut bump stops due to [reasons].

    Hood adjustment

2024 bump to say #me_too. A bit upset because NONE of the intercooler install guides said anything about marking the positions of the bolts before taking them out. I tried to put them back in the same position due to dust marks, but just noticed today (1 month later) that "hey, the front of the...

Suspension setup for bumpy roads recreational driving?

It's ok - somebody posted their corner weights for a stock R and I made my own corrections to it for unsprung weights and extra crap I carry in the trunk. Prospects are not looking so good for the Ground Control spring system up front. Their sleeve mechanism sits above the spring perch and...

Suspension setup for bumpy roads recreational driving?

HAha I wish. Already have the mud flaps. Now need to add pops and bangs to keep the turbo spinning. [j/k I'm not a poser]

Suspension setup for bumpy roads recreational driving?

short answer: yes. Longer answer: "vicariously" + [arguing on the internet over technical details] "trust me bro" bumps will unsettle a car more when there is a big sway bar. I used the following thread as reference where some guy is using the stock DCC dampers on even stiffer springs than...

Failing to get info from Bilstein Re: B4 & B6

Wait... is the stock spring rate on the R DCC 215 or 195? APR is the only source I have seen quoting this higher value.

Suspension setup for bumpy roads recreational driving?

Golf R. Will be set up at stock height or slightly higher. Want somewhat stiffer springs because the stock ones feel a bit too soft. NOT doing track or autocross. Only somewhat aggressive driving, NOT pushing limits. Often just normal "cruising" driving. I may go with Ground Control custom...

Depending on who you ask at Bilstein, the B4 are either 10% stiffer, or not

    IE rolling anti lag

Randomly browing this forum. Now I see IE gets sh1t on as well. OK smug guys, are there ANY reputable companies that "know what they're doing" who make VW aftermarket parts?

Can I replace stretch bolts with non-stretch bolts?

Hello folks, Going to be doing shocks and springs soon, but I expect to take them on and off several times due to adjustments, fitting, swapping springs, etc. Can I just replace the stretch bolts with non-stretch bolts, like the yellow zinc 12.9 bolts? If so, should I use Loctite on them...

    Intercooler performance

2024 bump to ask if you guys ever figured out what to do about "IAT doesn't read temperature correctly at low pressures". There were a few posts about it from the MyGolf guy back in 2020.

When I put in the part numbers for MY B4 and B6 DCC shocks, it only shows 2015-2019 Golf R and 2015-2021 GTI.
